Childlike Faith
The children's sermon at church today was about creation. A child was given a box of Legos and instructed to make something (she decided to make a heart) without touching the Legos. She shook the box, but it didn't work. She couldn't do it.
Then the speaker started explaining to the kids (ages 3-9) that some scientists think we came into being like that - random objects collided and poof! there was life. The kids quickly interrupted. "No! It was God!" "God did it!" "God made everything!"
So, so simple. Too bad adults try so hard to complicate it.

We did that with a balloon. We used scrabble tiles to spell out "earth" then put them in a balloon and blew it up. Then we popped it with a "big bang" and the letters fell out. I pointed out to M that they didn't spell "earth" even though all the pieces were there floating around inside the balloon. His response was, "Because we need God to put the letters together." Yep. Pretty much.
