Bounce

My grandparents had this great game called Bounce. All of us cousins remember playing it with Grandpa and Grandma. You bounce these ping pong balls onto a tray, and get points according to where the ball lands (unless you play like Mel and Purple Cousin, and have to get rows, which I think would actually be harder).
A few months ago, when our parents were sorting through Grandma's things, they couldn't decide who'd get the game. We all wanted it, but weren't going to fight over it.
So Uncle Zubas came up with a solution. A Bounce-Off. Winner take all. On Christmas (which was actually New Year's), the cousins competed for the game, as well as for bragging rights. We set up a single elimination tournament, with the winner gaining custody of the game for 2011. Next Christmas, we'll do it again, and we'll do it year after year.
Johan's BFF won, and there were no hard feelings, just a lot of fun memories and some smack talk.
Somebody said, "I think that's how Grandpa and Grandma would have wanted to pass the game on."
They were absolutely right.

cousin johan's bff played it that way, too. must be an age group thing.
but yes, it was great. i think one of the single most cousin-bonding moments ever. and i'm so excited to think that we get to do it again next year! :D
oh, and uncle georg should be very flattered that his name is uncle georg.
(esp cuz didn't i call him uncle zubas once?)
I was just going to say that! What an excellent way to remember your grandma and grandpa! :)
Also, your uncle looks like THE Georg??! ;) Or is that his real name? Which might even be cooler. :)
well, yes, it was johan's bff and buddha, too. i figured that was implied.
and you're right, it's uncle zubas. i'll change it. (no, chel, he doesn't look like georg. but he did live in austria)
