My Only Post Regarding This Election

Danny Glover and Melissa Etheridge are campaigning in favor of legalizing marijuana in California, which leads me to two thoughts:
1) How does being in a movie or singing a song qualify someone to be a spokesperson for something? Wouldn't it be more effective to have a doctor or police officer talk about why drugs should be legal?
2) Seriously, if you are going to use your celebrity status to promote a cause, this is the one you choose? This is an all-important issue? What about homelessness? Cancer? Child abuse? Were all the good causes taken? I really think there's got to be a better use of your time.
