Book Review: Your God is Too Safe (Part 2)

I haven't finished it yet (I've been so busy!), but I'm still absolutely loving this book!!!

The author is talking now about how we need to practice the presence of God. We need to recognize that God is always with us, and instead of viewing our lives as two-fold - the Godly and the secular - we should realize that it should all be Godly.

"We drive down the street, stand at the sink, pluck weeds from the garden, hammer nails into planks, hang clothes on a line, write a poem on a napkin. We preach, we pray, we sing, we weep. In all these things, God is present. Whether we notice Him or not is a matter of vision, attentiveness, alertness - practice."

And later, he goes on to quote Brother Lawrence: "Our sancification does not depend as much on changing our activities as it does on doing them for God rather than for ourselves."

We were put here for a purpose. In the midst of all that, we have to work, eat, sleep, take care of our children and the elderly...all those things that we call 'life'. But 'life' shouldn't get in the way of God. We should let God be a part of our everyday life.

I've read that, too. But I'm thinking I need to read this one.

i have a copy, but it's in a big collection with other classics (but you can still borrow it if you want), or mom has a smaller copy, but hers is a newer translation so it's missing the 'thees' and 'thous' which i like.
or i can stop pressuring you and let you read what you want when you want. i want to read this book, though.

Yeah, it's so much easier to read than to do. At least for me!
