Moving On

Five and a half years ago, we decided to try homeschooling. We weren't completely sure of what we were doing, but we plunged into the unknown. Now, after countless spelling tests, science projects (which occasionally worked), field trips, and hours of one-on-one time, Erma is done. She's heading to public school in the fall.
It will be a good move for her. I think she'll enjoy the social aspect of it and will benefit from teachers who are more familiar with the 'smart' high school subjects. We've done the best we can, and God can take that and make it into something wonderful. I think she's ready for it.
The question is - am I?

no, you're not. but you have to suck it up. erma's a big girl now and will do just fine. it'll be a good thing all around. you'll see. besides, you have a few months to get used to it. i'm just sorry that she never wrote that interview with joe mauer for the school paper.

Is Scout going to or is she going to remain at home?

I don't ever think one can be really ready for a big change like that. You just have to plow in and try your best. I'm sure Erma will do great if she's excited about it.

can't erma still write an interview with joe mauer? i bet they'd print it in the school paper... and yeah, that's definitely got to be challenging for you -- good luck! (but the other girls are right, she'll do great:)

maybe the joe mauer paper should be her summer school assignment.

scout will be at home for two more years. junior high is just an icky time for a big change like that.
