Sound Advice from Dino Jr, Age 5
"Mistakes and failures are great teachers"
I tried to remember that when I completely mangled a batch of Swedish pancakes today. I learned that I should never attempt pancakes if Enrique's not home, and Erma and Scout learned that when Mom messes up dinner, they get to go out to eat.

What a wise 5-year-old!
it was really funny because it came at a completely random time.
he learned it from some superhero video or something (but what 5 year old just picks up on that?)
and he said it to me as he was wrapping a super giant stuffed dragon/snake thing around his head as a turban
it's almost like he thought you were thinking, "do you think that's such a good idea, dino jr?" ;)
no - he was just talking. the boy doesn't stop. (it's very cute, though.)
That's too cute:)
As for the dinner out thing...I have a friend who made this AWFUL casserole once. Her husband didn't want to hurt her feelings, so he pretended it wasn't so bad, but she knew better. Anyway, she had doubled the recipe and thrown one in the freezer. She found it a month later and set it out on the counter intending to throw it out later. Her husband came home from work and thought she was defrosting it for dinner and offered to take the family out. Long story short (or not) she still has that same casserole in her freezer (3 plus years later) and whenever she doesn't feel like cooking just sets it out on the counter. She calls it her "dinner out guarantee".
hmm...would that work with jello, too?
and mel's right - dino jr. is very boy, but he's also very smart and talks non-stop.
Haha! You're -- I mean, your "friend" is -- hilarious, busy! :D
Chris will eat my jello. He just won't eat $15.00 jello...
