Hanukkah Quote of the Day

With the jingle bells and the toys
And the TV shows and noise
It's easy to forget at the end of the day
Our whole family will say
These words for Hanukkah
Baruch atah Adonai, eloheinu melech ha'olam,
asher kid'shanu B'mitz'votav v'tzivanu l'hadlik ner shel Hanukkah.
Light the candles for Hanukkah, for Hanukkah
We remember how Maccabees
Fought so all of us could be free
And so we celebrate on this festival of the lights
There's a joyful time every night
But we illuminate the candles of Hanukkah, of Hanukkah

hey, mel - can you translate?
interesting... are BNL Jewish?
i think some of them might be - i'll try to find out
did you find your cd?!
i'm pretty sure 'baruch atah Adonai' means 'blessed be the Almighty' and a mitzvah is a good deed.
i learned that first part before, but i can't remember it and i can't find where i found it. perhaps it is in my Christian Passover booklet, but didder stole that years ago.
i was hoping you'd post this, btw :)
i figured since there's much more to hanukkah than armadillos and adam sandler's song, i should acknowledge that part.
oh, and as for your translation - i think hanukkah means hanukkah.
that passover book is yours? sorry. i'll return it.
in answer to your question, chelley, steven page is jewish - i'm not sure about any of the others.
i won't be using it anytime soon. it's hard to be jewish when living here. it'll be a few years before i can fully celebrate.
hey! that song is on right now!
i wish i could hear it
sorry
i had the hebrew part of this stuck in my head at work today. too bad i don't know all the words.
(i actually know most, though! :) )
