TV Review: The Brendan Leonard Show
The Brendan Leonard Show aired on ABC Family a few years ago. It has not been released on DVD, but our good friend Brendan (whom we don't really know) made DVDs of the entire series for my girls, which was a very nice thing for him to do, as it made Erma and Scout very, very happy. The Brendan Leonard Show is the best pointless show ever (I'd give that title to Whose Line Is It Anyway, but it has points, even though they don't matter). The basic premise of the show is 'give some high school guys a video camera and see what happens' (thanks to Erma for that summary). Chelley recently lamented that all the entertaining shows aren't necessarily all that clean, which sadly is very true. But Brendan is the exception to the rule. It's good clean fun. Some of my favorite moments from Disc One:
*the guys test warning labels on products, such as children's scuba gear that says "For use in water only". They go around town wearing goggles, a snorkel, and flippers and find that (SPOILER) yes indeed, it's better to use those items in the pool. (I've told my girls they are NOT allowed to test the label on Erma's straightener)
*they ponder what life would be like if our bodies did not have joints. They duct tape their joints - elbows, waist, knees - and try to do various everyday things like play basketball, eat chips, and talk on the phone.
*they play games like left-handed baseball and water balloon golf. Part of the golf game (to which they wore true golf clothes in plaids and argyles) took place at the Lake Michigan beach where Erma and Scout went when they were stalking Brendan Leonard (whom we didn't see).
*they display some of the many versatile uses for spatulas, including digging coins out of the couch cushions and scraping gum off the sidewalks.
This show really should be released on DVD, because it seems unfair that we are the only ones who can enjoy it.
Labels: Brendan Leonard, tv shows, why we're so cool

that really is unfair. i need to borrow the dvds from you sometime. (oh, and my little side review, it is a great show. i've watched two episodes and can't wait to watch more. but that's all you can watch in one sitting cuz it shows you what goes on in a guy's brain, and we girls can only take it for so long.)
oh, and the other unfair thing is what you just did to erma - it was she who summarized the show for you, not i.
oops. i thought it was you. i'll correct it now, though, so as to leave future readers confused.
yup, I'm a future confused reader, all right. ;) And I want to see the show too! (in little doses, as I'm sure I'd agree with Mel about the male brain thing:).
ooh ooh! maybe i can borrow it before labor day. *batting eyelashes*
:D
you'll have to convince your nieces...
Sounds like a cute concept...why don't we see more of that on TV? I might actually watch some then:)
it's reality tv that isn't actually really stupid
